Students speedwalk to get in line for the irresistible aroma of the day’s lunch in the Westwood Intermediate and Middle School cafeteria. There’s a steady stream 11 a.m.-1 p.m. that’s part of the daily school rhythm. For nutrition services staff member Ann Washenberger, today is another day in more than 25 years of serving up meals and connection with students.

Unofficial results are now available from the November 4, 2025 election. The Spring Lake Park Schools’ operating levy referendum question was overwhelmingly approved with 66 percent of the vote. Four community members were reelected to continue their service on the school board.

Spring Lake Park Schools held its annual retirement reception on May 20 to honor and recognize the staff members who retired during the 2024-2025 school year or are retiring at the end of the school year.

Some fourth graders are considering this question: How do challenges and changes impact my thoughts, actions and feelings? They’ll answer the question through their project work in English Language Arts, math, humanities and more as they are led on a journey from Mount Everest to their own life experiences.

Their Career and College Pathways experiences in Business and Entrepreneurship shaped their steps after high school. Now, grads Max Horn, Catherine Nguyen, Brian Perez and Keyara Fiadjigbe are blazing career paths in fields they love.

Seventh graders stand in front of poster boards and screens pitching a group of visiting parents, teachers, and other students. They are looking for investors in their products – the next great American food. This is the culmination of their interdisciplinary projects. The winner? Student engagement.
